Microsoft: decide before you pay
Can a temporary SMS purchase add an SMS option to my Microsoft login?
No. Microsoft determines which verification methods the current flow permits. Buy only if it offers SMS to a new number that satisfies its requirements.
Start with the time you need
One SMS can complete an immediate step only when Microsoft offers SMS to a new number and accepts the assigned line. If your account will need the same phone on a later login, choose a number you can retain. If a code is addressed to a number already attached to an account, a new activation cannot receive that old number’s message.
The account type changes the answer
Microsoft says SMS is being phased out as an authentication and recovery method for personal accounts. Its security-info help says an option to add a new phone may not be available. A Microsoft service label in SMSTempo cannot create that option on an account that offers only email, Authenticator or a passkey.
For work or school accounts, an administrator can control available verification methods. If the sign-in screen does not offer SMS to a new phone, follow the organization’s method or help route instead of funding a number.
Only search when a new-number SMS step exists
If Microsoft explicitly invites you to enter a new number for a text, choose Microsoft and its permitted country in the SMSTempo directory. Follow the phone field’s format and do not repeat a prefix supplied by a country selector. The directory entry is a possible service-country choice, not proof that Microsoft will accept a particular supplier line.
Add moves that pair to your dashboard for a current stock and price check. The minimum top-up is account credit, separate from the activation quote. No order is placed until you confirm an available offer.

A successful assignment displays the number and expiry. Enter it only in the Microsoft SMS step that accepts a new phone, request the code there and watch the SMS tab. If Microsoft changes the offered method or rejects the phone, follow its displayed instruction. An active order cannot force Microsoft to send a text.
If Microsoft says a text was sent, compare the displayed destination with the assigned number and check the order state. A received SMS and successful Microsoft account verification remain separate outcomes.
Choose a method that persists
Microsoft recommends current security information and describes verified email, Authenticator and passkeys. A one-time number does not remain available for later recovery. Set up a durable method offered to your account while you still have access. If an unanswered SMSTempo order qualifies for account credit, that resolves its purchase state, not the Microsoft login.
