Is a temporary number the right choice?
A temporary activation is access to an assigned number for a displayed order window, not ownership of a continuing phone line. It can be worth examining when a platform permits that kind of number and you need one SMS now. It is a poor fit when the same account will ask for another code next month or when you are trying to regain an account that already has a different phone number on file.
The country, the number's technical type, live supply and platform acceptance are four different checks. A familiar calling prefix establishes a country code, not mobile or non-VoIP classification. A higher price cannot establish those properties either. If the outside service explicitly requires a mobile number, read its current rule before choosing an offer; Discord, for example, says VoIP, burner and landline numbers cannot be used for its phone verification.
Three requests that need different answers
The third case is easy to mistake for a new signup. Before spending, look at the masked number or delivery method shown by the account. If it points to an old line, buying a different line does not redirect that message.

Use the directory to narrow the question
Start with the country requested by the outside platform and the service for which you expect a code. If the service is not listed by name, choose Other services and check whether a live offer exists. If the platform requires one country, do not substitute another merely because its prefix or price looks attractive. A service name in the list describes the intended request, not an independent acceptance test. If the platform has a number-type rule and the offer does not identify the line type, keep that fact unknown. What the offer and order can actually confirm
The dashboard must obtain a current USD price and stock for the selected pair. Recheck both at the confirmation step because supply can change between browsing and assignment. A blank or unavailable value is not a hidden bargain; it means there is no confirmed offer to buy at that moment. The $20 minimum crypto top-up is account funding, not the price of this number. The order uses confirmed account balance; creating an invoice or copying its address does not make funds spendable.
After successful assignment, the order shows the actual number and expiry. Watch that order for any incoming SMS during its active window. A number being assigned does not mean the sender accepted it or sent a code. If the order fails, remains unanswered or expires, the order status and its available actions determine the next step.

Questions before you confirm
Does a listed country mean a number is in stock?
No. The directory contains country and service entries. A live offer must confirm stock and price for their exact pair, and assignment can still fail.
Can I identify a mobile or non-VoIP line from the prefix or price?
No. A prefix identifies a numbering region and a price is a charge. Neither establishes the technical type of an individual assigned line or whether the platform accepts it.
Will a temporary number receive later 2FA codes?
Do not count on it. The assigned order has an expiry, and SMSTempo does not promise reassignment of the same number. Use a continuing number or another supported recovery method for later codes.
Can a new number recover an account linked to my old number?
No. A code addressed to the old registered number goes there. Follow the account provider's official recovery process or a backup method you set up earlier.
