Start with the time you need
One SMS can complete an immediate step only when X offers SMS to a new number and accepts the assigned line. If your account will need the same phone on a later login, choose a number you can retain. If a code is addressed to a number already attached to an account, a new activation cannot receive that old number’s message.
Read the masked destination
X’s phone-number help describes texts for adding or changing a phone. Its two-factor help also describes login codes sent to the phone configured on the account. A new SMSTempo activation cannot collect a code sent to an older linked number. Use the backup and account-help options X offers for that situation.
X and Twitter appear as distinct service labels in the supplier directory. Select the option matching the intended X task and the live supplier offer; the labels are not automatically interchangeable.
When X permits a new phone
Choose X and the country accepted by its current form. Match the actual country, not just a shared calling prefix, and follow X’s number format instructions. The directory lists choices without promising current stock or X acceptance.

Use the assigned order window
After a successful order, the number and its actual expiry appear in the SMS tab. Enter it in the X flow that accepts a new number, request a text on X and watch the active order. If X refuses the number, read its reason; waiting for an SMS will not reverse an immediate platform decision.
If X reports sending a code, compare its masked destination with the assigned number and inspect the order status. Follow X’s resend guidance rather than assuming repeated clicks created new messages.
Store a lasting way back in
X recommends backup codes for two-factor authentication if access to a phone is lost. Save an available backup securely and keep an authentication method you control. A one-time activation expires and cannot promise another sign-in code on the same number. For an unanswered order, read the final status and any eligible account credit before changing the plan.
